Bowsprit
PreviousNext
For those landlubbers amongst us, there is a lot more to the design of a boat than meets the eye. From the latest hulls - made of carbon fibre – and the up-to-the-minute GPS technology to the miles and miles of ropes and yards and yards of sailcloth, the creation of the 21st Century sailing craft takes months and costs millions. For me, this image – of the bowsprit of yachtswoman Dee Caffari’s boat, Aviva – brings together that technology with the strength and power of the design.
