Aurelin Pillar
PreviousNextOf the many, many pillars in the centre of Rome, two in particular stand out. Marcus Traianus and Marcus Aurelius both fought lengthy campaigns during their reigns, determined to bring peace to the Empire. Their battles and victories are celebrated on tall pillars, the details of which are carved in spirals up the length of the structures. In this image (of Aurelius’ wars) I tried to show both the height and the power of the structure.
